Purpose and Aim for the Group

The Clinical Metagenomics Workgroup is a newly established NMG initiative dedicated to advancing Canadian expertise in clinical metagenomics to improve infectious disease diagnosis and surveillance. It engages a national community of researchers and clinicians through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and coordinated projects. Through regular meetings and partnerships, the workgroup supports both established and emerging programs, promotes standardization and stewardship, and advances multicentre studies and guideline development, with the goal of accelerating the integration of clinical metagenomics into routine patient care across Canada.
